It’s always a good idea to test your ductless mini-split HVAC system before the hot days of summer come along in Vidor, TX. If you discover your ductless system isn’t running properly, here are some troubleshooting tips to help you find the problem.
Noisy Air Handler
Each air handler in your home has its own blower inside for moving cool air into its zone. Your blower should be nearly silent while working. If it’s making a loud noise, then the motor bearings have worn or are locking up, and you will need a service technician to come and replace the blower unit.
Uneven Zone Cooling
If one zone seems warmer than the others, make sure that your filters are clean and that you can hear your air handler running. If the filter is clean and the handler is running, then there is a problem with the refrigerant line. If it wasn’t installed properly, the line could fail, and you’ll need a new line installed using the correct procedures.
Not Cooling Anywhere
If none of the air handlers in your home are pushing out cool air, you either have an electrical problem, a refrigerant leak or a problem with the unit outside. First, go to the circuit breaker for your ductless mini-split system and toggle it off and back on. If this fails to wake up your HVAC system, then go outside and look at your outdoor unit.
Your outdoor unit should be free of debris and ice that can block airflow and disrupt its functioning. If removing the debris doesn’t help or you see ice on the unit, you need to call for service.
